Those mentioning hardware that came out before Windows 10 do need to remember that the only hardware that windows 10 has had trouble with that came out before it was specifically hardware that had dropped support (the 970 and 970 are still supported). The fact you can run a DX12 game would point to something being a bit sketchy about your story here as for it to be a massive hardware fault from "hauling around your PC" the card itself would simply be having issues with anything it is running and not just specifically a 3d/graphics API. There is no known bug for ANYONE running a windows system with an issue like that and that includes people on the insider program. Windows has never locked to just running the highest version of direct X that comes on the system. All previous versions of windows come with 10 as well (so 10 and 9 both work etc, given each version is backwards compatible for the most part DX Level wise) The fact you are saying your computer only works in Direct X 12 games must mean you are either infected with something that has actually affected your hardware, your software end is woefully corrupted to a point of absurdity (this would need to include bios/firmware corruption) or that you are simply lying.
